Information | The famous painter Angelo Morbelli, one of the most important exponents of the Italian Divisionismo, lived and worked in Frazione Colma, where you can find reproductions of some of Morbelli’s works along the streets. |
Those who arrive from Alessandria or Casale Monferrato will take the Provincial Road 42 of the Valle Ghenza and will bump into the hills of Rosignano and into some typical farmstead, like the “Vestodina” and “San Pancrazio”, which were once convents and monasteries and are nowadays beautiful examples of rural architecture of the Monferrato.
Little hamlets are scattered around the whole municipal territory, here are some examples: Galetta, Costa Lora, Belvedere, Uviglie. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view on the Alps and on the hills of the Monferrato Casalese.
In the background, in direction Casale Monferrato, you can see other examples of farmstead in the middle of some thriving estates consecrated to viticulture, like Minerva, Senico, Augero, which are all ancient toponyms that you can find on the oldest medieval land registries, which are preserved in the Historical Archive, in the Town Hall.
If you go along the Provincial Route, you will reach Roveto and Montalbano, which are other hamlets. If you turn to the left, you will find yourself in the places painted by Angelo Morbelli, the famous pointillist painter, who lived in the hamlet Colma. Here you can find some reproductions of his works of art, representing the beautiful landscapes of Rosignano Monferrato.
Points of interest: Uviglie Castle, San Bartolomeo Church, Villa Maria and “Percorso Morbelliano”, Pietra da cantoni quarries, Rhodoliti. For further information you can visit the page “Vivere il comune – Cosa vedere”.
