Information | The oratory (chapel), built in the XIX century... |
Before Rosignano Monferrato became an independent municipality, there was an ancient Monastery with an annexed Church consecrated to Saint Bartholomew. The feast day draws his origins from this church, in fact during the Middle Age the population used to celebrate the Patron Saint’s day on the 24 August (instead of celebrating San Vittore, on the 8th of May, who is the Patron Saint of the Municipality).
The current oratory was built during the XIX century from the doctor Cantamessa (as attested by a marble inscription in the crypt). Inside the church there is a canvass representing Saint Francis, Saint Bartholomew and Saint Pancrace, which dates back to 1715.
